Five reasons you should move to the South West

We love the South West.

Of course, we would say that
because CJ Hole has been selling, renting and managing amazing
properties in this amazing corner of the UK since 1867.

But don’t just take our word for it.

Here are five great reasons why you should move to the South West in 2020…

1. The seaside

Forget your Brightons and your Bournemouths.

Some of England’s best beaches are right here in the South West.

Which means you don’t need to go on holiday so relax and soak up some sun – you can do it right on your doorstep.

One of the best seaside towns in the South West is Burnham-on-Sea.

The
beach at Burnham-on-Sea is the second longest stretch in Europe, too,
and the town is home to some amazing period homes right on the seafront.

2. Outdoor space

So, the seaside is a real tick in the box for the South West.

But what if you prefer long walks over rolling hills and incredible views?

Well, we have that too. In abundance.

There
are few more beautiful places in England that the Cotswolds, which runs
the length of the South West from just beneath Stratford-upon-Avon in
the north to Bath and Trowbridge in the south.

If you live in
Bristol’s bustling centre, in places like Downend, Henleaze, Southville,
Bishopston or Bradley Stoke, having the Cotswolds on your doorstep
really is something special.

Throw in the Malvern Hills around
Worcester and the Wye Valley near Newport in South Wales and it’s clear
to see why the South West is a outdoor space lover’s dream.

3. Employment opportunities

Employment in the South West provides a huge range of opportunities for workers across a multitude of sectors.

Bristol’s
burgeoning start-up and tech scene is growing all the time and attracts
young professional renters and buyers and families to areas like
Clifton, Redfield, Kingswood and Westbury-on-Trym in their droves.

Worcester, Cheltenham and Gloucester, too, offer employment opportunities across manufacturing, banking and education.

4. Great schools

Schools across the South West are among some of the best, consistently, in the UK.

Bristol, for example, is home to 28 ‘Outstanding’-rated primary schools, including:

  • St John’s CofE Primary School in Clifton
  • Henleaze Junior School
  • Ashton Gate Primary School

In
Newport, Glasllwch Primary is rated ‘Excellent’ by Estyn, while seven
schools in Worcester carry a five-star rating from schoolsguide.co.uk.

5. Property prices

Over
the years, places like Bristol, Worcester and Gloucester have seen an
influx of workers moving out of London to find more value in property
and a quieter pace of life.

Compared with the lofty prices of the capital, property in the South West offers far more value to both buyers and renters.

And
for those needing to get back to London or Birmingham for work,
Bristol, Gloucester and Cheltenham offer train services to the capital
inside two hours, while the Second City is reachable in less than an
hour.
